We are located on 4 beautiful acres in the heart of everything. We are only one mile South of the famous Kittery Outlet Stores (over 130) and one mile North of Portsmouth, NH where there is tax free shopping. We are 50 miles from Boston, Massachusetts; Manchester, NH; and Portland, Maine.1926 brought the birth of the "Westwold Motor Court" (West being the west side of the road & wold meaning woods) consisting of a main house and 10 small cabins for summer use only. The house was a family residence with Office, Guest Bathing and Dining Room. The cabins were for sleeping only with no electric or indoor plumbing. In the early 40's a small room was added for indoor plumbing and electricity. In the mid 50's (to extend the season somewhat) they installed Gas floor furnaces & kitchens in each cabin. Hot & Cold water ran from the main house to each cabin and back to the house. In the early 60's it stopped being an active motor court and switching from owner to owner mainly being rented to construction workers during the summer. It is rumored that at least two Presidents had stayed here, what kind we do not know. We can only imagine. 1980 brought the birth of Litson Villas with Gary & Koula Litsinberger and family as owners with determination to bring back the cabin era in all its splendor and glory. They started by completely renovating with Hot water heaters, electric heat, electric stoves, complete interiors and siding for the exterior. These quaint and quiet villas were restored for their beauty and ability to withstand cold, Maine winters. 1988 brought the decision-making process of more Villas or go to motel style dwellings. After a lot of research we found four problems leading the hospitality industry. Number (1) was guest checking in late. Number (2) was guest checking out in the early A.M. Number (3) crying children. Number (4) was loud televisions. Since we did not have any of these problems with our present villas because they are individual units that are not attached to one another the logical choice was to add 18 more to our village. In addition we redesigned our landscaping to more extensively beautify our 27 units. 1997 brought Litson Villas a beautiful outdoor pavilion that can be utilized by guests for up to 30 people for reunions, wedding parties, birthdays, anniversaries, retirement parties or general family outings. Reservations need to be made well in advance to run functions more smoothly. 1998 brought the purchase of additional property to add to Litson Villas for future development. |
